China Seismological Network: The Hualien 6.9 earthquake in Taiwan is the biggest earthquake in China this year.
According to the official measurement by China Seismological Network, an earthquake of magnitude 6.9 occurred in Hualien County, Taiwan (23.15 degrees north latitude and 121.30 degrees east longitude) at 14: 44 on September 18th with a focal depth of 10 kilometers.
According to China Seismological Network, the Hualien earthquake with a magnitude of 6.9 and the Taiwan Province earthquake with a magnitude of 6.5 last night (September 17) were swarm activities in the same area, and the epicentres of the two earthquakes were about 14 kilometers apart. The earthquake caused a strong earthquake in Taiwan Province Island, and the earthquake was obvious in Fujian, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Shanghai and other coastal areas.
In addition, China Seismological Network also pointed out that the Hualien 6.9 earthquake in Taiwan was the biggest earthquake in China this year.
According to the earthquake information broadcasting robot, since January 1, 2022, there have been 533 earthquakes of magnitude 3 or above in China, including 388 earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 to 3.9, 105 earthquakes of magnitude 4.0 to 4.9, 30 earthquakes of magnitude 5.0 to 5.9, 10 earthquakes of magnitude 6.0 to 6.9, and 0 earthquakes of magnitude 7.0 or above. The largest earthquakes occurred in Menyuan County, Haibei Prefecture, Qinghai Province on January 8.
