There used to be a big supermarket next to the Gucui Road subway station in the west of Hangzhou. It used to be called Huashang Supermarket, but later it was renamed Jiayou Supermarket Hua Store and Century Lianhua Hua Store. Many Hangzhou residents, especially those in the west of Hangzhou, remember it.
Last year, the supermarket moved away, and the original building was demolished to prepare for urban renewal.
On May 6th, the latest construction scheme of Hangzhou Planning and Natural Resources Bureau was announced, and a brand-new large-scale complex will be built.
The total construction area is over 220,000 square meters.Consists of several buildings.
According to the published planning scheme, the commercial finance project of plot XH0802-40 in Gudang, where the former Huashang Supermarket is located, has a planned total land area of 33,465 square meters and a total construction area of 226,188 square meters, which will be a complex integrating multiple functions such as commerce and office.
The south side of the project is Wen ‘er West Road, close to Gucui Road subway station, Tongpu Road in the west, Gaoji Street in the north, Fengjiahe River in the east, and Gucui Road on the other side of the river, which is in the core of the old cultural and educational district in the west of Hangzhou, and the traffic is very convenient.
The above-ground part of the plot covers an area of 140,553 square meters, the underground part covers an area of 85,635 square meters, the building density is 44.54%, and the floor area ratio is 4.2%. It is composed of several buildings, some of which are planned for business, others for office functions, and there is a bus management room with an area of 500 square meters.
After the completion of this project in the future, supermarkets and other formats will be introduced, so it will be more convenient to come here, whether by subway, bus or by car.

In 1999, Huashang Supermarket opened, becoming the largest warehouse supermarket in Hangzhou at that time. It is a bit like Metro and the popular Sam member store now. The building is a large factory building, with a relatively large area, but the building height is not high.
Later, Huashang Supermarket was renamed Jiayou Supermarket Hua Store and Century Lianhua Store, perhaps because everyone was impressed by the name of Huashang Supermarket, many citizens still called it Huashang Supermarket.
Although it is deeply loved by Hangzhou citizens, with the rapid development of Hangzhou, the business model and architectural status here do not match the overall development of the region and the city.
The original Huashang Supermarket covers an area of 37 mu, with a building area of about 24,000 square meters, and the plot ratio is only 1, which is far lower than that of other commercial functional plots in Hangzhou, even lower than that of most residential plots, and the land utilization rate is very low.
The renewal construction can improve the land utilization rate, and the planned plot ratio of the new project is 4.2, which can make the high-quality plots in this western region play a greater role.
In addition, the facade and internal environment of the original Chinese supermarket building are old and do not match the interface of the surrounding cities. Re-planning and building the complex can enhance the urban interface.
It can be expected that after a period of time, at the Gucui intersection of Wen ‘er West Road in the west of the city, there will be a modern quality building complex rising from the ground, and the surrounding area of Gucui Road subway station will continue to be lively.
